This true story follows FBI agent Joe Pistone as he spends six years infiltrating the Mafia of New York, led by Sonny Black, and the mob family of aging hitman Lefty Ruggiero. Pistone, posing as jewel broker Donnie Brasco, forms a bond with Ruggiero and is reluctant to sell him out. The lines between his real life and his undercover life become blurry for Pistone.
